Sole Trader to Dynamic Company
Coming from somewhat different directions, Amanda Conrad and Helen Robertson have both developed from single freelancers to directors of small translation companies with in-house translation and administration staff.
Their reasons for expansion differed: one was spurred on by rising demand from the market, the other by a desire to use newly acquired management qualifications.
However, both enjoy the challenges. Their presentation will cover the similarities and differences in their experience of staff recruitment and training, the practicalities of taking responsibility for staff welfare, issues with ensuring continuity of staffing, management and workflow administration, IT and equipment, marketing and - not least - the further development of their businesses.
