Amanda Conrad, MITI
Amanda Conrad graduated in French with German and Spanish, and learnt the skill of technical translation while working as an in-house translator, first in an engineering consultancy and then in a patent agency. Since setting up as a freelancer in 1979, she has seen the business expand into a dynamic company by a process of organic growth. Amanda Conrad Translations Ltd. currently employs a team of seven translators and administrators, specialising in legal and technical work. The last year has seen the company involved in projects covering 19 languages.
As a founder member of the ITI, Amanda Conrad represents the Institute on the rules panel for chartered linguist status. In her capacity as the newsletter editor for the German network, she is organising its Work and Playshop in Tunbridge Wells in September 2007.
