Fátima Dias
Fátima Dias is a freelance translator who translates from English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish into Portuguese. In recent years her translation work has been focused on literary translation and on translating popular science books.
She teaches an introductory Translation Course at the British Council in Lisbon, Portugal.
She holds a BA (first degree) in Modern Languages and Literatures (English/German) from the University of Lisbon, Faculty of Arts, and an MA (master's degree) in Translation Studies from the same university. She has also completed the Institute of Linguists' Diploma in Translation.
She is currently vice-president of the Portuguese Translation Association (ATeLP) as well as deputy director of Confluências, an online magazine focusing on scientific and technical translation.
Research interests: literary translation; translation history; translator training; audiovisual translation.
