Iwan Davies BA(Hons) MITI is a freelance translator and localisation expert based on the northern edge of the "Fair City" of Perth in Scotland. Working with his wife, Louisa, under the umbrella of their company Translutions Limited, Iwan supports a wide range of British and continental European clients with translation and localisation services from French and German into English in the fields of Accounting, Banking and Finance, Economics, IT and Telecommunications. He joined ITI as a student in 1994, while at Heriot-Watt University, and became an MITI in 2000, shortly after going freelance. In the period from 1995 to 1999, Iwan worked as an inhouse translator and localisation project manager at a small software company in South-West Germany. He is a keen advocate of the use of technology in translation, and is an early adopter of all things technological. He regularly provides training to fellow freelancers in the use of translation tools, and runs the largest independent dedicated Trados user group on the web, tw_users (groups.yahoo.com/group/tw_users).
