Dr Nelly Chachibaia

Reader in Translation Studies; received PhD in Translation Studies from Moscow State Linguistic University, Russia, in 1989.

Have taught applied translation and translation theory since 1976 at:

  1. Centre for Interpreting & Translation, Tbilisi State University of Western Languages & Cultures, Georgia, (undergraduate and postgraduate levels);
  2. Centre for Translation Studies, University of Surrey, Guildford, UK (undergraduate and postgraduate levels);
  3. Centre for Interpreting & Translation, School of Social Sciences, Humanities & Languages, University of Westminster, London, UK. (M.A. in Bilingual Translation; teaching and supervision of M.A. projects in technical translation).
Have published over 30 articles and chapters of books on problems of translation and interpreting; edited academic books by English and Georgian authors; participated in a number of conferences and symposia in Translation Studies; have given a number of lectures by invitation; member of European Society of Translators; member of Babels.
