Meet the delegates - Becky Mynett (Bedfordshire, UK)

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAHello, my name’s Rebecca Mynett (but please call me Becky) and I translate from French to English. My main specialisms are education, music and tourism, but I also have a background in theology and a strong interest in international development.

After many years teaching French, music and RE I have been translating for just over a year, took the Dip Trans IoLET exam in January (results expected very soon!) and with the ITI SUFT course under my belt I now feel ready to expand my freelance business, Mots Justes Translations.

Since joining the ITI I have been really impressed by how friendly and helpful everyone is – even though I haven’t actually met anyone in person yet. (I have to say that this is in marked contrast to my experience as a member of a professional organisation in another industry, which had perhaps better remain nameless!) I’m really excited to be coming to my first ITI conference and meeting everyone I’ve ‘met’ on the SUFT course and in the French network.

I’m also looking forward to getting involved in some of the fringe events. Unfortunately I can’t join in with the chamber music as my harp won’t fit in my suitcase, but I’ve signed up for the Singing Translators and I  will shortly be embarking on the very difficult task of deciding which of the official sessions to attend!
