Meet the delegates - Daniel González (Leeds, UK)

Sep07$01My name is Daniel González and I am an EN>ES and IT>ES translator based in Leeds (West Yorkshire). Although I have been living in Leeds for nearly 10 years now, I am originally from Asturias, in Northern Spain.

I have been working as a freelance translator since 2013, and before that I was an in-house translator for 6 years. I have also had jobs in International Marketing and Export. As you can imagine, Marketing/Business is one of my main specialisations, along with Travel and Tourism and Technical (Manufacturing, User Guides…).

When I was an in-house translator I did not work for translation agencies, but for companies in other sectors (one of them being from the Travel and Tourism industry and another one being a manufacturer and exporter of mobility products). As a result, my first experiences in trade shows and conferences were in specialised fields like mobility, accessibility, export markets, etc.

Although I regularly attend local events with the Yorkshire Translators and Interpreters network of ITI, this will be my first ITI Conference. I missed the last conference in 2013, but this year it will only be a 2-hour train ride from me, so I just couldn’t miss this chance! I will be there for the 2 full days, Friday and Saturday!

I am really looking forward to this conference, not only to attend the exciting sessions, but also to network with colleagues! Although I have been working in translation for a while, the whole freelance part of it is relatively new to me, and networking is definitely one of the areas I would like to make the most of while at the conference!

See you there, and please come and say “hi”!
