Meet the delegates - Rose Oakes (Munich, Germany)

Rose OakesI’m a French and Spanish into English translator and coming up to my tenth year as a freelancer, so decided it was high time that I attended an ITI conference! I graduated from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh in 2003, and went to work in-house at a translation company in Argentina before returning to the UK to start my freelance career. I’ve been living in Munich for the last three years, and love the greenery, traditions, great weather and Butterbrezen. I’ve had to try to get my brain out of Romance language mode and (back) into Germanic mode, which hasn’t been easy, although I’ve come to love the dazzling logic of German vocabulary.
I’m really looking forward to being inspired by some fantastic speakers at the conference. I want to be able to work with more complex file formats and get to grips with social networking, so I’ve signed up for the XML Masterclass and Tweet Up. Like many other freelancers, I’m really looking forward to giving my eyeballs a break from the computer screen, catching up with colleagues and meeting new people.
